The red carpet at last night's MTV Movie Awards was full of eccentric beauty looks, from crimped ponytails to super bright lips. But Bella Thorne opted for a more natural aesthetic with easy, flowing hair and barely-there makeup.
A lot of you awesome readers have been asking for tips on how to pull off a subtle look like hers  for prom, so we got an exclusive step-by-step with Bella's makeup artist, the lovely Tonya Brewer. (The best part? Tonya used a ton of great drugstore products. That means if you don't have a whole lot of makeup to begin with, buying a few things for prom won't break the bank!)
"Bella and I love experimenting," Brewer told us, "and the Movie Awards is normally a great opportunity to try new things. But last year we did a golden smoky eye, so we wanted to mix it up. I decided to enhance Bella's natural beauty, which is a look I would recommend for anyone who wants to just look beautiful on prom night. It really takes minimal effort to achieve."
Of course, we all know beauty starts with the skin. "The first step is to make the complexion flawless," Brewer says. "I use Neutrogena's Skin Clearing Liquid Makeup because it's light and breathable. It's oil-free, so it won't clog your pores, and it has salicylic acid to treat breakouts." Oil-based foundations are actually easier to blend into the skin, so make sure you apply this product with a damp BeautyBlender sponge to ensure a seamless finish. Consider only dabbing it onto your T-zone, the corners of the nose, and the chin to cancel out redness, and let the rest of your complexion breathe!
"Once the foundation was finished, I used my fingers to apply a brightening concealer under the eye area. Neutrogena's Eye Perfector is really a life saver, plus it's great for on-the-go touch ups. It also has SPF, which makes it ideal for everyday use to protect the fragile under eyes!"
A lot of girls skip blush altogether, but Brewer insists it's an essential for healthy radiance. "A light dusting of a shimmery blush will enhance the cheekbones," she says. "I used Sheer Highlighting Blush in Pure, which is a soft pink. It livens up the complexion and adds a bit of gentle color."
To finish the skin, she dusted every oily girl's best friend onto the T-zone: Neutrogena's Shine Control Powder.
For the eyes, a taupe shadow was dusted all over the lids to add dimension. "Then on the inner corners, I applied a gold shadow. It really widens the eyes, which is great for pictures," Brewer says. Then she finished with a few quick coats of "B's favorite mascara," Neutrogena Healthy Lengths. "It builds volume quickly to achieve a fuller-looking lash!"
For the lips, Brewer advises skipping full-on lipstick in favor of something sheer, lightweight, and shiny. "A lip crayon is great because they hydrate your lips while you wear them, which leaves your pout feeling soft and smooth." Bella's wearing Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick in Warm Caramel.
