MY DIY | SPIKE TEARDROP EARRINGS

I love how a pair of statement earrings can instantly pull a basic outfit together. Throw them on with some skinny jeans and a black top and you instantly have a complete look (bonus points for a swipe of red lipstick).

Even better, you can create a pair in no time using beads from your craft box or by reconfiguring broken jewelry. I started with a piece of wire and added a few tubes, spikes and beads to create a couple of danglers. I can’t wait to wear mine to my next night out! Today's Everyday Fashion: Mixed Prints

Today's idea: Mixed prints are all the rage, so now is the time to experiment with whacky combinations. It will give you more mileage with your printed pieces by increasing the number of potential outfits in your closet!
More ways to wear it: Take a cue from the inspiration and pair a black and white print with a colorful one. In place of the pink accessories, you can also try a simple nude or black shoe and purse.
My take: There's a lot going on in this look, but I like the idea of making a houndstooth skirt work for spring, and a new way to wear this colorful top. I may just give it a try in a creative work environment.

Tips for Choosing Your Bridal Accessories

Hello, Pretty Brides! It’s Devon from Devon Rachel, back here on Style Me Pretty to talk about one of my favorite parts of the big day: the accessories. Speaking of big day, mine is less than 3 WEEKS away! I’ve been so busy finalizing each detail, making sure everything is ready to go. I’ve found my something old, new, borrowed and blue. I’m finishing up wedding dress fittings. This is happening, people! I could not be happier.

One piece of the bridal puzzle I had most fun tackling was choosing my jewels. Although a fun task, I can totally understand how difficult the decision of accessories can be for a bride (Lord knows I can be so indecisive when it comes to this wedding). It’s easy to get wrapped up in the glitz and the glamour of it all and we forget that so many affordable and amazing options are out there! To show you what I mean, I put together a few different looks from one of my favorite accessory brands, Charming Charlie.

PEARLS | I have to admit, I've never loved a pearl necklace more. This four-strand piece gives you a modern take on a classic look. Think Audrey. Paired with a pretty smile, you’ll turn heads!

DROP NECKLACE + HEADBAND | I love the idea of a headband for your big day. Heck, I love it for any wedding related activity period! I felt so girly and bridal! And can we talk about this cool lariat necklace? Pure fabulous.

CLUTCH | I almost forgot about a cute wedding clutch! Every girl needs a pretty little bag to always remember and even display in the future. I’m dying over the detailing paired with a pretty statement necklace – it gives such a gorgeous modern vibe.

EARRINGS | I think every girl should wear earrings on her big day, even if it’s just a stud. But if your dress allows, I would highly recommend a long statement pair! They are great for photos and will bring out the pretty sparkle in your eyes. I don’t know about you, but if I can look just as fabulous while saving a few dollars, I’m all about it.

The Inevitable Great Gatsby Post

Fact: I’ve never seen The Great Gatsby. And that’s despite the fact that it has one of my most favorite hair inspiration actresses in it and it takes place in what is one of my favorite decades fashion wise. Why? Because that movie ruined my haircut. I actually boycotted it back when it came out because everyone on planet earth lobbed off their hair into a bob just like mine. Even my kid’s doctor said, “Look, my hair is just like yours.” And it was. There went my “I don’t want to look like every other girl in Miami” motivation. Ironically, now that my hair is longer than it’s been in five years, I spun it up in a Gatsby style, because, as luck would have it, a friend turned 40 this past weekend and threw a prohibition-themed bash that was unlike any other soiree I’ve ever been to. Authentic, amazing, unrepeatable. That just about sums it up. Given the opportunity to deck myself out in one of my favorite decades, I jumped with joy, hit my closet and the Interwebs for inspiration and headed straight to Todd at Van Michael. Clearly, neither one of us were born in the right decade, as he can whip out this hair in no time flat and it is sleep-proof. I may or may not have taken these pics the following day. OK, I did and that hair survived the night. Oh, give me a costumed theme party and let me run. It’s like bonus Halloween, and I think we all know how much I adore Halloween. And yes, that’s a flask in my garter, so cheers.
