For the Cannes premiere of her new filmCloud of Sils Maria tonight, Chloë Grace Moretz wore a gorgeous, feathered mint green Chanel ensemble. "Because of the color and style of the dress, I wanted to utilize a softer color palette," the star's makeup artist, Mai Quynh, explains. "I wanted the dress to be the main focus!"
That called for a seriously summery fresh-faced glow. "I started by prepping the skin using RéVive Moisturizing Renewal Cream. Chloë has normal-to-dry skin, so I layer it on and then let it sit for a few minutes like a mask before gently patting it into her skin," Quynh says. Then, adding to the overall luminosity of the look, she applied Laura Mercier's new semi-matte Flawless Fluid Foundation (out in July!), and touched up dark circles and around the nose usingSecret Camouflage concealer.
Because the weather is warm in Cannes, it's important to use a thorough setting product immediately afterwards. Using a large brush, she dusted translucent powder down the T-Zone, then popped Second Skin Cheek Color in Peach Whisper onto the apples of the cheeks. (You can always tap it into the face with your fingers for the most realistic texture.)
"On the eyes, I wanted to play with soft, mauve tones," Quynh explains. The lid was covered in an amethyst-hued cream shadow, which was blended into the crease using a fluffy brush. "Then I smudged a darker gray color into the top lash line for depth and dimension. After, I mixed those two colors together on the back of my hand, then used that shade to define the bottom lash line." A pop of shimmery beige on the inner corners opened the eyes, and the look was finished with a few quick coats of mascara.
"To give the final touch of glamour, I applied Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Lip Color in Coy to the lips," Quynh adds.
